Let us pray … September 13th
But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.” And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.
Mark 1:38-39
WHY ARE YOU HERE?
Jesus is clear on His purpose for being on earth. He states it clearly and without ambiguity, and those He tells can understand it. Have you found what God’s purpose for You is? have you discovered the reason you are here, now, in this place and at this time? The One who sent you, the Lord, is the One who is the best Person to go to, that you may discover why you are here. The purpose when you discover it, must be clear, the application of it and expected result must also be clear. Too many times we are told of concepts that cannot be grasped, ever moving targets of ideas that no one really understands, or each person told reads in a different way, with no clear markers for measuring its success or failure. The Lord Jesus had clearly marked goals, set for Him from heaven above. At the end, when He gave up His life, (for none can take it from Him), He was able to say, “It is finished!” Take a moment to think about this. If you were asked to write out what you believe is the reason why you are here, what would you write? Perhaps you should write it, and examine it, and go back to the Lord, if you require further clarification.
Jesus said, ‘..for this purpose I have come forth.’ And He went about fulfilling the purpose. The discovery of why we are here is only the first step. The fulfilment of the tasks, is the next logical step. It is a task, and it is WORK. No one is sent to do nothing! One person’s task may be wider in scope than another’s. Just as some people may be given one talent, while others are given five or ten. Yet for each person, they must WORK with what they have been given. What work are you engaged in for the Lord? Are you serving or being served only? Jesus set about working, fulfilling His purpose.
“But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” John 5:17
“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” Ephesians 4:7
“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, variety of tongues. Are al apostles? Are all prophets? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way…Love never fails” 1 Corinthians 12:27-31, 13:8a
Everyone must be working according to the grace given to them by God. You must know why you are here and fulfil the purpose as Jesus did. Do not be deceived that it is a title that you acquire in order to fulfil purpose. You may compel people to call you “Apostle”, or “Prophet”, but do not imagine this title alone, will get you a passmark with the Lord. An apostle is a person who is ‘sent out’. You may be sent out to teach the word, and do so in your home, or neighbourhood, or church. This is what is regarded as being an apostle, not only the title. Do not be deceived, and also deceive others, by bearing a title that does not correspond with what you are doing with your life. God is not mocked. He knows all things. Seek the Lord, that He may reveal to you why you are here. Seek the Lord for the strength to fulfil the purpose for which you are sent. Seek the Lord for His grace to be pleasing to Him. Do not relent. Do not get carried away. Do not be deceived by the world or the things of the world, this is what is most important. Work now, work for the Lord and His kingdom, work whilst it is day, for night comes when no one can work.
LET US PRAY
O Lord, Help me! Give me all I need to know why I am here, and fulfil the tasks that you have set before me in the time I have been given by You. Help me Lord to remove all distractions to the most important purpose of my life. Do not let me be deceived by pleasing men and not You, Lord. Help me to keep my focus on what is important. I need Your presence and Your grace to do the work acceptably, that I may be pleasing to You, faithful to You, serving You. help me in Jesus name, amen.
