EU to Pay Nigerian Govt to Deport Nigerians from Europe

EU to Pay Nigerian Govt to Deport Nigerians from Europe
admin | April 29, 2016 | 2 Comments

The Nigerian government is about to sign a pact with the European Union to receive aid from the union in exchange of the deportation of Nigerian economic migrants.

This is similar to a recent pact EU had with Turkey that is dramatically curbing migration flows from the Middle East.

A “readmission agreement” would involve migrants from Nigeria being deported in exchange for EU economic aid for Nigeria.

It would be the bloc’s first major return deal with a sub-Saharan African nation — its only existing one is with tiny island nation Cape Verde.

The EU and Nigeria agreed to “take the necessary steps to launch negotiations” for a deal after meetings in Brussels last month, and diplomats there have since been working to secure a mandate from member states to start the negotiations, an EU diplomat said.

#OccupyNASS: Protesters Receive About N400, 000 Daily

The OccupyNASS campaign group has denied claims that it is being sponsored to move against the National Assembly, or its embattled chairman, Bukola Saraki.

The group said it benefits instead from a robust support package from unnamed Nigerians, at an average of N400, 000 daily, throughout its campaign.

The group on Thursday said it would bring down its tents and leave the main gate of the National Assembly on Friday morning, three days after starting a sit-in there.

At a hastily-arranged press briefing on Thursday night, the movement listed its achievements, demands and plans for its future.

Bunmi Awoyemi, the convener, said the protest was ending on a good note for all Nigerians.

“This is the first time in the history of Nigeria that Nigerians from all walks of life were able to galvanise each other to come to Abuja to shut down the National Assembly,” Mr. Awoyemi said. “We succeeded in sending a very strong message that Nigerians will no longer be taken for a ride.”

Buhari’s economic policies “opaque, archaic” – Ezekwesili

President Muhammadu Buhari’s current economic policies are similar to those he promulgated during the military regime he led in the 1980s, a former Minister of Education and social critic, Oby Ezekwesili, has said.
Mrs. Ezekwesili said Mr. Buhari’s “archaic” and “opaque” economic principles are not only encouraging massive corruption and abuse of power, but also hurting the poor they were intended to help.
Mrs. Ezekwesili said this at The Platform, a public policy forum that is currently underway in Abuja.
“During the first coming of this our new president, a command and control economic system was adopted.
“During that era, inflation spiralled. During that era, jobs were lost. During that era, the economic growth level dipped,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said. “That era wasn’t the best of eras in economic progress.”
“What did not work in 1984 cannot possibly be a solution in a global economy that’s much more integrated.”
Mrs. Ezekwesili said Mr. Buhari was rehashing the same “command and control” approach towards economic issues which has left the country’s economic indices worse off since he assumed office almost year ago.
“In over one year, the president is still holding to the premise that command and control is the only way out,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said. “In a year we have lost the single digits inflation status we maintained in past administrations.”

Mrs. Ezekwesili said Mr. Buhari’s distortion of foreign exchange system has left the poor it was intended to support even worse off.
“The president comes into this economic philosophy on the premise that he does not want the poor to suffer. I can relate to that, a leader must not allow the poor to suffer, especially a leader who knows that most of his votes came not from the elite but from the poor.”
“The problem though is that the intention and the outcome are diverged.
“The weakest and the most vulnerable suffer the impact of inflation the most. Enormous power is being abused as a result of opaque economic policies.
“Companies are suddenly finding themselves unable to produce because they’re unable to access foreign exchange,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said.
Mrs. Ezekwesili, therefore, urged Mr. Buhari to sit down with his administration officials and reconsider the impact his polices have had on the nation’s economy, quoting an American parlance that says if something is not broken there’s no need fixing it”.
“Mr. President should sit with his team and look at the economic evidence that speaks loudly. It’s time to sit back and review the well-intended idea of command and control economic principle.
“He should do what the Americans say that if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it,” Mrs. Ezekwesili said.

Blac Chyna Tells Rob Kardashian’s Family She Will Not Be Appearing On Their Reality Show

Blac Chyna isn’t prepared to jump on the Kardashian bandwagon, according to US reports. The curvy model and Rob Kardashian got engaged earlier this year, but the star is said to want nothing to do with the world famous brand because it will “royally screw up her brand”.

According to TMZ, the mum-of-one has made it clear to Rob’s family that she won’t sign with Kris and won’t do their reality show.

They add that Blac is more interested in developing her own beauty and fashion business empire and wants to stay well away from TV. Also, anyone who thinks she’s benefited from being associated with the Kardashian brand is wrong.

The website reports that she believes it’s actually Rob who has benefited from her and that he’s made money since they got together.

Naira Depreciated Against Dollar Because of Nigeria’s Idolatry – RCCG

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has called on Nigerians to express gratitude to God by rededicating their lives to Him with abounding faith in Him.

He spoke during a special prayer and thanksgiving service at the RCCG national head-quarters, Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Speaking after the service, the Special Assistant to Pastor Adeboye on Personnel and Administration, Pastor John-son Odesola, said before Festac 77, the naira was equivalent to a dollar and the economy was stronger and better, until Nigerians forgot God and brought all idols in the world to the country.

“Shortly after Festac ’77, we started exp-eriencing negative dev-elopment in the country. We didn’t appreciate God with our oil boom. If we really want God to build this nation, we must return to Him and let Him occupy our national life and know how to manage our successes.”

OPinion: Buhari Might be the Last President of Nigeria – Etcetera

Perhaps after reading this, you will come to the conclusion that I am being irrationally paranoid. If so, you are probably spending way too much time plugged in to the “propaganda matrix” that I will describe in this article. The government wants you to believe that everything is going to be just fine and that the best days for this country are ahead.

The government understands that most Nigerians don’t understand the ramifications of the present state of the nation because they have been washed and rinsed with propaganda. We live in a society that is absolutely addicted to entertainment.

An average Nigerian youth spends most of the day plugged in to one form of social media or the other. When we are not watching television, we are listening to the radio, messing with our smartphones or spending endless hours on the Internet. More than 90 per cent of the things that we are fed through these devices are produced by the media.

And who controls the media?

The corrupt politicians do.

And have you noticed how “the mainstream media” loves to divide us?

Today, Nigerians are more divided than ever. Our news broadcasts endlessly fixate on one crisis after another, ethnic or religious.

Nigerians are extremely angry and frustrated today, but most of our anger and frustration are directed wrongly.

How can we ever hope to come up with any solutions for our nation if we spend so much time hating our fellow citizens?

But this is just how the politicians like it.

They love to play divide and conquer. They love as chaos is brewing all over the land. If we were united, we would be far more difficult to manipulate.

And even if we did find a way to come together, what values and principles would we use to rebuild this nation?

The truth is that most Nigerians have totally neglected the values and principles that the founders of this country once held so dear.

Personally, I am very optimistic about my future. And I believe that the greatest chapters of my life are still ahead of me.

But am I optimistic about the future of Nigeria?

No, I am not.

I strongly believe in the United States’ prediction that we are on the path of disintegration. And current happenings suggest that it might not be a peaceful disintegration.

So, if you have got family and friends that you would like to visit before things start getting really crazy, you should do so within the next couple of months, because these might be the last days of “normal life” in Nigeria.

The unity that so many of us take for granted might be coming to a screeching halt, and we are about to enter the hardest times that any of us has ever known. And I am not just talking about the economy here.

Our refusal to have a national conference and decide the terms of our coexistence as a nation with freedom, equal rights and justice for all, plus the plague of hunger sweeping across the nation, we are about to enter a “perfect storm” that is going to shake this country in just about every possible way that it can be shaken. So I hope that you will truly savour these moments – days like this may not come around again anytime soon.

Can you tell me of anyone that lived a seemingly charmed life even though that individual made foolish decision after foolish decision?

In the end, reality almost always catches up with people like that.

And in so many ways, we have been living a charmed life as a nation even though we have been making incredibly foolish decisions for decades. We have cursed ourselves over and over again, and just about every form of evil that you can possibly imagine is exploding all around us.

As a nation, we now stand for just about everything that is bad, and the rest of the world is absolutely horrified by what has happened to us.

Once upon a time, we were one of the most welcomed people on the entire planet.

Now we are one of the most dreaded.

The things that we have been doing to ourselves is about to catch up with us in a major way. We thought that we were getting away with everything that we have been doing, but that is never the case. When you do evil to yourself or someone else, there is always a price to pay.

Over the past few years, strange things have been happening. The power situation is one of those strange things. That corrupt politicians don’t go to jail is another. How can you explain being one of the world’s largest oil producing countries and still suffer from lack of fuel?

If the government fails to take the rightful decisions in the months ahead, we are bound to see some more unusual events unfold.

To be honest, whatever the country is witnessing now might just be a tip of the iceberg. From now, you are just going to have to trust your instinct.

If my tone sounds ominous, that is good, because that is precisely the mood that I am trying to convey. Right now, everything happening suggest
s that all our comfortable little lives are about to get shaken up big time.

Good politicians have gone extinct. We are now left with those who love to create chaos out of order. In other words, they will often purposely create a crisis in order to push through things that they would not be able to accomplish during “normal” times.

The problems that we are experiencing are being used to justify radical “solutions” that will further their overall agenda. In the middle of an “emergency”, nobody pays attention to their looting.

Unfortunately, most of us are going to be completely blindsided by what is coming. You might choose to continue to follow the utterly clueless leaders down a path toward oblivion.

But the good news is that once the “shaking” starts, many of “you” will wake up, but it might be too late.

When that happens, who will the “masses” turn to for answers?

APC Goes After Fayose for Opposing President Buhari’s China Deal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has reacted to Governor Ayodele Fayose’s stance on the Federal Government’s request to take loan from China for development purposes.

The party said President Muhammadu Buhari’s initiative is in tandem with other countries of the world that are engaged in bilateral arrangements for development purposes.

APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said in a statement that Fayose’s conduct amounted to a national sabotage and a seditious conduct that must not be allowed to go unchallenged.

He regretted that the governor got himself busy spending Ekiti money on frivolities while workers’ salaries remained unpaid for four months. “As we speak, doctors are on strike and Ekiti people are dying while the governor gets himself busy with the activities that will lead to evasion of justice in his several alleged criminal cases so that he can protect his questionable wealth across the world.

It will be recall that Governor Fayose had on Wednesday written to the government of China, urging President XI Jinping not to approve $2b loan to implement development component of the 2016 national budget. He sent the letter through his emissary to the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, while he personally took a copy of the letter to Shanghai to be delivered to the Chinese President.
